Welcoming at our Men’s/Women’s Events

Deacons! We love how our Life Groups participate in men’s and women’s events and how these events reinforce the community of these groups! While we love how these events provide opportunities for our groups to connect, we also want to be mindful that many will show up to these events that are not connected to a Life Group. Could you help us to to create a welcoming environment for these folks by doing a couple of things at these events? First, please be on the lookout for new people at these events. Observe those who seem to be by themselves or looking for a place to sit. Invite them into your group or connect them with another one (if that’s a better fit). Showing up early and greeting people in the lobby could be a great way to do this. Second, please avoid saving tables by leaning all of the chairs up against the table. This does not present the most welcoming look for those who might be new. While it is certainly appropriate for your group to gather around a table or two, be aware that there may be an opportunity to minister to someone new or invite them to sit with you at your table.

Deacon Men’s Prayer Meeting and Dinner 10/18

DEACON MEN: Join us for dinner and a prayer meeting for the 2025 Men's Retreat: THE HUNT.

You will get an intro to each message and consider together the theme of the retreat. We will enjoy a hearty time in corporate prayer, praying for the various aspects, messages, impact, and souls of the men's retreat.

We will meet in the Heritage Room in the Church Offices from 6-8pm.  Dinner from Teriyaki Madness.

Sunday’s Sermon: Lives that Support God’s Truth

1 Timothy 3:14-16

  1.  Read Acts 20:28. In this verse, the reminder that the church was purchased with Christ’s blood is meant to emphasize the importance of the elders caring for God’s flock. How should this reminder affect the way you view the church and how you behave in it?

  2. Read 1 Timothy 3:16 & Colossians 1:15-20. What are unbelievers missing out on by not trusting Christ? What are some aspects of the person & work of Jesus Christ that are precious to you that non-Christians desperately need to know about?

  3. Think through the different spheres of influence, relationships, and opportunities in our life. In which areas would you most like to be more vocal and active into upholding the truth about Jesus Christ? What will it look like to do that?

  4. Read Matthew 23:23-24. Why does legalism always end up lowering God’s standard of godliness instead of raising it? How might you be tempted to focus on external matters and miss the point of what God is calling you to?

  5. Read 1 Timothy 1:5. As you consider the goal that Paul describes here, where are you most in need of growth in true godliness? What is the next step for you to pursue growth in that area?
