Deacon Retreat 2025

Please mark your calendars for our annual Deacon Retreat happening on Friday, January 17th-Saturday, January 18th. Similar to previous years, we will kick off the weekend with dinner at the church building starting at 6pm on Friday with a formal end time of 9pm (but feel free to stay and fellowship as long as you’d like). We will gather back up on Saturday at 8am for breakfast and training by the Pastors. We look forward to this time where we get to check in and train the deacons of the church.

Application Questions:

Wrestling With God
Back in the Promised Land
Genesis 33

APPLICATION QUESTIONS

  1. As you consider the story of Jacob in Genesis, what are some specific ways you’ve seen God be faithful to Jacob? How can this study deepen your faith in God?

  2. Read John 10:27-30. How do Jesus’ words here build your trust that he will bring you safely home? Why should this reality give energy to your spiritual life (instead of making you lazy or passive)?

  3. Why is it so often easier to focus on the hard things that have happened in our lives instead of the ways God has been gracious? How will being aware of God’s grace to us help our perspective?

  4. Read Genesis 33:10-11. Jacob was generous as he sought reconciliation. What might it look like for you to do the same? Are there any relationships where you currently need to apply this?

  5. As you think through the week ahead, in what specific areas of your life do you need to affirm your commitment to the Lord? How will that affirmation transform your attitude and actions in that area?
