Explaining Christianity Class

For 6 weeks starting Sunday, January 5, Pastor Stephen will be leading an “Explaining Christianity” class during the 10:30 service. It will be aimed at unbelievers and those unsure of their position before Christ. This is not a class for seasoned believers—unless they bring with them an unbeliever or inquirer! In fact, the best way to get unbelievers into this class is by a direct invite from our people. This is where Life Group leaders come in. In your last group meeting this year, you can encourage your people to think of someone in their life to invite to this class. Maybe it’s someone they’ve shared the gospel with already who has shown some interest. Maybe it’s their chiropractor whom they invite out of the blue. This class is a resource they can use to help lead people to Christ.

Class description: This class is designed to go over the basic building blocks of the Christian faith. It will not be heavy or deep theology, but it is designed to allow you to check out the simple fundamentals of what Christians believe.

Compass will have invite cards available for pick up at the Connect Table on December 15, Lord willing, when it’s announced to the church. We’d love for conversations of who to invite to happen at next week’s Life Groups.

Application Questions:

Wrestling With God
Final Lessons from Jacob & Esau
Genesis 35-36

APPLICATION QUESTIONS

  1. If you think about the things that cause you most to be angry or anxious, what idols do they reveal in your life? What will it look like to put these idols away?

  2. Read Genesis 35:3. How does Jacob describe God in this verse? Can you identify with this? If so, how have you seen these things be true in your own life?

  3. Read 1 John 1:8-9. How does it encourage you to know that our cleansing comes from God’s faithfulness and forgiveness and not our own efforts?

  4. Read James 1:2-4. How can the truths of this verse help us to ask “What can I get out of this?” instead of “How can I get out of this?” when we face hard situations in life?

  5. Read Matthew 16:26. In what ways might you be tempted to cherish worldly success over the blessing of God? What spiritual danger could these things present to your soul?
