Read Romans 8:18-25. Why is it important for Christians to have a realistic view of the sufferings and tragedies that will happen in this life and in this world? How can we prepare ourselves not to be shocked or surprised when tragedy strikes close to us?
Read Colossians 3:1-4. Why do Christians need to think about heaven and our future with Christ often? Why is it important for us to remember that these future promises are a central part of our faith?
Read Job 42:1-6. In what ways have you had to find yourself saying similar things in times of tragedy? In what ways do you need to prepare yourself with thoughts like this in times of tragedy?
Read Habakkuk 3:17-19. How is possible for Christians to have joy even in the midst of tragedy?
Read Psalm 73:16-22. One thought that encouraged the Psalmist in a time of doubt was God’s future judgment of the wicked. How can this thought help you in times of struggle or tragedy in your life?
