Adventure Club Graduation Reminder
Life Group leaders remember that THIS WEEK, on May 19th and 21st, we will be hosting our Adventure Club graduation night in the main auditorium. We ask that all Life Groups be in the auditorium at 7:50 PM to attend the ceremony. Each student present will receive a certificate with their name that congratulates them on completing year three of the Adventure Club curriculum.
Women - “Summer Deep Dive”
Women Leaders— In place of a summer book club we are creating a “Summer Deep Dive” to further explore the Every Thought Captive retreat theme. Our intention is to go deeper into the Scriptures on a variety of themes that God’s word addresses, and to slow down the pace to best meditate/apply what we learn. Every Monday we will send out an email teeing up that week’s theme/prompts, written by our pastors/wives. As always, you are welcome to gather your life group women over the summer to discuss in person once, twice, or at your preferred pace. We hope you will join this summer study and encourage your women to also, as an opportunity for further discipleship and greater fruitfulness in our thought lives!
Missionary Sponsors Visit From Papua New Guinea
Next Sunday, May 24, our Missionary Sponsors, Tim and Courtney Shontere, will be visiting with us for the weekend for the first time! During 3rd Service, they'll share about their ministry and have Q&A in the Heritage Room (office building classroom). We invite everyone to join them to learn more about their 20 years of ministry so far with the Yembi Yembi tribe and other tribes in Papua New Guinea!
Sunday’s Sermon:
The Dangers of Our Hypocrisy
Romans 2:1-5
Read Luke 18:18-23. Put yourself in the shoes of the Rich Young Ruler. If you told Jesus that you had kept all the commandments since your youth, what could Jesus say that would expose the true state of your heart and your sin?
Read Romans 2:4. In what ways have you seen God express his kindness, forbearance, and patience to you even when you were still unrepentant?
Read 2 Corinthians 7:10-11. How would you describe the difference between godly grief and worldly grief? How should a right understanding of God’s kindness lead us toward godly grief?
Read Isaiah 66:1-2. Do you think those closest to you would describe you as humble and contrite in spirit? What are some of the visible fruits of these characteristics?
Read Titus 3:1-3. How should an appreciation of God’s patience towards you affect your attitudes toward
unbelievers?
