Deacon Retreat… More Details

Don’t miss this year’s Deacon Retreat where we’ll be talking about a future church plant and building plans (among other things). We will be gathering on January 17th and 18th! Please feel free to bring your spouses to the retreat; Friday night is a great chance for them to enjoy dinner with other couples while hearing updates from the pastors. We will kick off the weekend with dinner at the church building starting at 6pm on Friday with a formal end time of 9pm (but feel free to stay and fellowship as long as you’d like). We will gather back up on Saturday at 8am for breakfast and training by the Pastors which will end at noon.

Baptisms Announcement

Life Group leaders, be sure to announce the upcoming baptisms to your group and tap those on the shoulder (or send the link) who need to get baptized. Here is the link to register. The next baptism service is on January 26th.

Application Questions:

The Intersection of Pain & Providence
Dreams, Schemes, and God’s Unstoppable Plan
Genesis 37

APPLICATION QUESTIONS

  1. Consider the seven destructive attitudes/actions listed in the sermon. How do you see yourself tempted by these things? What will it look like to flee from these things?

  2. Read Proverbs 10:12. While giving into hatred or bitterness may appeal to our flesh, what will some of the negative consequences be if you succumb to these feelings? How can that motivate us to flee from these things?

  3. Read Colossians 3:12-14. How should remembering that you are “God’s chosen ones, holy, and beloved” transform the way you think about difficult relationships?

  4. Read 2 Corinthians 4:17-18. Notice the cause-and-effect connection between our present afflictions and our future glory. How should this truth transform the way we view suffering?

  5. Now go back to question 1 and consider how this truth should change your response to these temptations. How will the knowledge that God is using even evil things done to you to prepare an eternal weight of glory help you think differently about these things?
