Deacon Retreat… More Details

Don’t miss this year’s Deacon Retreat where we’ll be talking about a future church plant and building plans (among other things). We will be gathering on January 17th and 18th! Please feel free to bring your spouses to the retreat; Friday night is a great chance for them to enjoy dinner with other couples while hearing updates from the pastors. We will kick off the weekend with dinner at the church building starting at 6pm on Friday with a formal end time of 9pm (but feel free to stay and fellowship as long as you’d like). We will gather back up on Saturday at 8am for breakfast and training by the Pastors which will end at noon.

Men’s Breakfast Tomorrow

Be praying for tomorrow morning’s Men’s Breakfast as we gather for Men & Marriage, the first message in our Men &… series this year. Pray that the Lord would use the time of fellowship, worship, teaching, and discussion to sharpen the men of Compass and to bless the marriages at CBCTV. See you men there at 8am!

APPLICATION QUESTIONS

1. Read Psalm 7:11. What are some of the reasons we may tend to downplay the seriousness of sin and the righteous indignation that God has toward it? What will some of the negative ramifications be in our lives from a failure to take sin seriously?

2. Read 1 John 1:9. In what ways do you find it most difficult to admit your own sin/guilt? What is this failure costing you?

3. What are some other verses/passages that should motivate you to be quicker to admit your sin? What will the benefits be of freely admitting your guilt?

4. Read Hebrews 12:11. What does “peaceful fruit of righteousness” mean and what are some of the ways that fruit could look like in your life? How is this peaceful fruit of righteousness an expression of God’s grace?

5. Read Psalm 103:8-13. What does this passage, as well as the notes of grace we see in the story of Tamar, tell us about the character of God? How will you worship God in light of this reality this week?
