Women’s Event 11/8

Anxiety, or worry, are an all-too-common thread for most moms, and God’s solution is prayer! Join us Friday, November 8th from 7-9pm for our next “Moms on Mission” Night where we will consider how to strengthen our prayer lives from Philippians 4:6, and live more committed to praying for our children. Your sign-up also doubles as your raffle entry for an embroidered “Moms on Mission” sweatshirt! We will have several winners, so sign up to enter! Dessert is provided. You can register here.

Men’s Breakfast 11/9

Our Pastors’ Q&A breakfast for the men is Saturday, 11/9, 8am-10am. Sign up here and encourage the men in your Life Groups to sign up as well! This will be a great opportunity of fellowship as well as a chance to get insight from our pastors.

Opportunity to Support SOS Missionaries

As you will see in the church-wide email, there is an opportunity to support John Sanborn as he heads to Sufficiency of Scripture Ministry in Uganda, our missionary partner there. To help bless the 6 families that serve with SOS Ministry, we have a list of items we would like to send along with John. They will need to be brought to the church offices by Wednesday 11/6, so please reach out to your Life Groups through your normal means to organize the shopping and drop off of any of these items by then. You can see the list here.

APPLICATION QUESTIONS

  1. Read Psalm 91:9-13. What comfort does it bring to you to know that God is working to help his people even in ways that they cannot see?

  2. Read Psalm 34:7. As you consider situations where you might be afraid, how could you be less concerned with your fears and more concerned with pleasing God in that circumstance?

  3. Read Genesis 32:9-12. Review the five aspects of this prayer that were mentioned in the sermon. Which of these ingredients is most missing in your own prayers?

  4. Think through some specific things you may be tempted to dread. What are some specific commands or promises that should apply to you in those situations, and how should those be incorporated into your prayers?

  5. As you do your best to walk wisely in difficult situations, what are some motivations you need to watch out for and avoid? What are some passages that warn you about these things?
