Stewarding Wealth With an Eternal Perspective
James 5:1-6
Read Matthew 6:19–21. In what ways have you been faithful to “store up treasures in heaven,” and in what ways would you like to be more faithful? How can you live more focused on eternity rather than this short life when it comes to your wealth?
Read Matthew 6:25-34. Do you trust the Lord to provide for all of your needs? In what ways have you not trusted the Lord with this in the past? How can you continue to trust Him more?
Have you been tempted to commit any of the “Short-Sighted Rich’s” offenses (Hoarding Possessions, Gaining Wealth Dishonestly, Indulging Selfishly, Maintaining Wealth Unethically)? If so, how have you (or will you) avoid sinning in these specific ways?
Read Mark 12:41–44 and 2 Corinthians 9:6–8. How can you grow to be more faithful and cheerful when it comes to giving your wealth to the Lord?
Spend time praying and discussing (with a spouse or friend) about how you can more faithfully serve God with the wealth that He has entrusted you to steward. Share with the group some of the actionable items from this time in prayer and discussion.
