Finishing Well Financially

Our Financial Stewardship class will be taught by a special guest this weekend. Rick Talcott served as the Business Administrator for Compass Bible Church Aliso Viejo (our sending church) for two decades, and he will be unpacking the importance of estate planning and other practical implications of preparing to finish life well as a godly steward. All are welcome to attend this session.

Life Group leaders, this class provides a unique opportunity to help your people gain some practical wisdom in this important area. Be sure to invite anyone you think may be interested. We will follow up next week with a link to the teaching.

Men - Welcome Guests Tomorrow Morning

We love how our Life Groups participate in these events and how these events reinforce the community of these groups! While we love how these events provide opportunities for our groups to connect, we also want to be mindful that many will show up to these events that are not connected to a Life Group.

As a reminder, could you help us to to create a welcoming environment for these folks by doing a couple of things?

First, please be on the lookout for new people tomorrow morning. Observe those who seem to be by themselves or looking for a place to sit. Invite them into your group or connect them with another one (if that’s a better fit). Showing up early and greeting people in the lobby could be a great way to do this.

Second, please avoid saving tables by leaning all of the chairs up against the table. This does not present the most welcoming look for those who might be new. While it is certainly appropriate for your group to gather around a table or two, be aware that there may be an opportunity to minister to someone new or invite them to sit with you at your table.

Invite Your Group to the Meridian Lights Parade

We will be participating in the Meridian Winter Lights Parade on Friday, December 5th  from 6-8pm. Our church will once again have a parade float featuring our Compass Worship Band. This provides a great opportunity to serve as a Life Group or just hangout along the parade route for a time of fellowship.

Either way, be sure to send the registration to serve link to your Life Group so that we can have more volunteers to follow along with our Compass Kids Worship Team, hand out Christmas Eve service invites, or serve at our hot chocolate stand!

Sunday’s Sermon:

The King of the Earth

Psalm 47

  1. Read Psalm 96:1-13. According to Psalm 96, why is God worthy of fear-driven worship? Using Psalm 96 as a template, prayerfully write out a personal “Psalm” to the Lord.

  2. Read Psalm 47:1-2. How can you grow in joy-filled worship and service to God as your king?

  3. Read Psalm 47:5-7 & 1 Corinthians 14:15. What truths can you meditate on to grow in praising God with your spirit and mind?

  4. Read Hebrews 2:5-9. How can you grow in faithfulness as you await the day everything is in subjection to Christ?

  5. Read Psalm 47:8-9. What will God’s all-encompassing future reign be like? How should knowing what God has in store for the future shape the way you live in the present?
