Deacon Men’s Prayer Meeting

On Saturday, October 19th, 6pm-8pm, we will be gathering for dinner and a time of prayer for the Men’s Retreat that will be coming that following week. We will be meeting at the church building. If you cannot make it for any reason, please let Cody (cody@compassbible.tv) or Pastor Charlie (charlie@compassbible.tv) know. And continue to pray for the retreat as it draws nearer!

Life Group Games... Gone Fishing

Please be sure to bring a fishing pole for one of the Life Group Games. You’ll need a functioning pole that can be cast, but please be sure that it is free of any tackle. Each Life Group must furnish themselves with a fishing pole.

Not One, Not Two…

But three services! On November 3rd, we will launch our third Sunday morning service. Each of our service times will be different - we will have 8:30am, 10:30am, and 12:30pm services each week beginning on the 3rd of November. We will be doing a ministry fair to help bring in more volunteers, but be sure to consider who in your Life Groups would be good to encourage to step up and serve at one of the three services.

Stephen Duwe Open House

Our time with Stephen Duwe went well this past weekend! He will be returning next weekend with his family. The Blakeys will be hosting an open house for any deacons interested in meeting Stephen and Veronica next Friday (September 20) evening from 5:30-8:30pm. A light dinner, snacks, and desserts will be provided. Please feel free to swing by anytime in that window. If possible, please make childcare arrangements, so the evening can be as focused as possible. Stephen will also be preaching in the main service that Sunday. Please continue to pray for God’s direction in this.

Application Questions:

Wrestling With God
A Stolen Blessing
Genesis 26:34-28:9

APPLICATION QUESTIONS

  1. Read Ephesians 1:11-12. How should the knowledge that God is working all things according to the counsel of His will affect your mindset this week? What are some areas that might seem “messy” to you where you need to trust God?

  2. Read Acts 4:24-30. What do the disciples end up asking the “Sovereign Lord” for in this prayer? As you consider the sovereignty of God from Genesis to the cross to Revelation, what kind of things should you be asking God for?

  3. Read 2 Corinthians 7:9-11. What are the differences you see in this passage between worldly grief and godly grief? How have you seen these differences in your life? In what areas right now do you need to show godly grief?

  4. How might you be tempted to do God’s will your way? What are some of the negative effects these efforts could have on your life?

  5. Read Philippians 2:14. In what circumstances do you most struggle with obeying these commands? How can you submit your desires to God’s will by giving thanks in these circumstances instead of complaining?
