Please Share This Need for Kids Min Help

Let’s Get the Word Out About Fellowship Fridays!

Men's Retreat Videos Are Up

Important Info:

  • Please Share This Need for Kids Min Help - We are looking for some people to serve in two areas:

    • First in the Kids Ministry during our Sunday services.

    • Second, we need some help during the Summer on specific Thursday nights: 6/17, 6/24, 7/15, 7/22 from 6:15-8:15pm. If you can help during any or all of these dates, please consider serving the Thursday night Life Groups, during their modified Summer schedule, by helping during this time at Legacy Life Church.

      • If anyone has questions about serving on Thursday nights this Summer have them contact Morgan Lee, our Kids Ministry Director at morgan@compassbible.tv.

    • Anyone who is interested should fill out this form and select Kids Ministry/AWANA in the pulldown to apply to serve.

  • Let’s Get the Word Out About Fellowship Fridays! - There are three events coming up called Fellowship Fridays. They are designed to get women connected with other women in the church, fostering a time of encouragement.

    • There’s going to be good food and drinks.

    • There will be conversation starters to foster new friendships and provide encouragement.

    • Children are welcome to come and play at the park/splash pad and enjoy snacks that will be provided.

    • Will you share this info with the women in your group and try to push for a great turnout?

      • The first Fellowship Friday will be on June 25th at Reid Merrill Park in Eagle from 9-11am.

        • You can find the info here and add it to your calendar as well.

  • Men's Retreat Videos Are Up - Encourage the men who couldn’t attend the retreat this past weekend to watch all three sessions from the Men’s retreat. All the sessions are up here.

Application Questions

We will be treated to a special message by Pastor Mike Fabarez this weekend.

  1. Read Ezekiel 34:1-6. When you consider the complacency of the religious leaders in Ezekiel’s day and those to whom Christ was directing the parables in Luke 15, what would you say might be the possible points of relevance to well-taught, longtime Christians in our day?

  2. Read Acts 13:45-52. What is at stake when you are too easily discouraged by the unreceptive, and give up on sharing the gospel with the people in your daily life too quickly because you’ve been opposed and rejected by a few?

  3. Read 1 Thessalonians 2:13 and Colossians 4:3-4. Why is the practice in the Colossians passage foundational to the experience of the 1 Thessalonians passage? What specifically will you do to increase your participation in what Paul is calling for in Colossians 4:3-4?

  4. Read Psalm 51:12-15. Why does unconfessed sin in your life all but guarantee you will not be sharing the good news of the gospel with anyone this week?

  5. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17-20. What in this passage motivates you to seek out the receptive and share the gospel with them?

Pastor Mike Fabarez is Coming!

Encourage Registrations & Serving for Camp Compass

Let's Get Every Woman to Flourish!

Important Info:

  • Pastor Mike Fabarez is Coming! - We have a special guest preacher next weekend on 6/13. Pastor Mike Fabarez, the Senior Pastor of Compass Bible Church in Aliso Viejo, the church that sent out our church plant, will be here to encourage us.

  • Encourage Registrations & Serving for Camp Compass - For those families who are new, please make a point to explain to them what Camp Compass is! You can visit the registration page for a short description and some details to help them get up to speed. If there are folks in your group who have the capacity to serve, encourage them to sign up here. Anyone serving can have their little ones taken care of during camp.

  • Let’s Get Every Woman to Flourish! - Please start pushing the next women’s event to the group… let’s get every woman that is in a Life Group to attend this special and important event! Here is the registration link

Application Questions

  • Read 1 Corinthians 8:1-3. How can you make sure your growth in knowledge as a Christian also leads to a growth in love for God? Think through your personal habits of Bible reading or listening to sermons. What will you do to ensure that these practices affect BOTH your head AND your heart?

  • How can you guard against growth in knowledge leading to arrogance toward less knowledgeable believers (1 Cor. 8:1) or toward unbelievers (Titus 3:1-7)?

  • Read Romans 14:23. What are some ways you need to be careful and sensitive toward your own conscience? Remember that these ways will likely extend beyond the “black and white” areas that Scripture addresses to specific situations and convictions in your own life.

  • Read Romans 14:13. How can you be considerate to those whose conscience may be more sensitive on certain issues than yours? How can you avoid being judgmental of those who consciences lead to convictions that are different than yours?

  • Read 1 Corinthians 8:13. As you consider your own relationships with other believers, what are some ways you may have to sacrifice your rights to serve your brothers and sisters in Christ?

Camp Compass Registration

Requiring Tickets for Kids Pickup

Ignite Registration Problems Solved

“Links” Nav Added to the Site

Important Info:

  • Camp Compass Registration - We will be announcing that registration is live this weekend! Here is the link to share with your group. I encourage you to take some time to explain to the new families why Camp Compass is a must for their kids to attend.

  • Requiring Tickets for Kids Pickup - Now that we have implemented a digital check-in process, we will require that parents have their ticket present when they come to pick up their child after the service. If someone does happen to lose a ticket, we can easily print them another one at any of the printing stations. Requiring tickets allows for us to provide better security for every child in our Kids Ministry program. As leaders, you're going to know each of these teachers more intimately than the rest of the church. Please lead the way by having tickets and not grabbing your children without them. Your example is greatly appreciated!

  • Ignite Registration Problems Solved - You may have had some people in your Life Group have trouble with the Ignite registration this past week. Keegan has been working hard to clean up the database for Plants & Pillars, and the issues that some folks experienced should be solved. The problem was organizing "households" in our system, which we didn't run into until now. Thanks for your patience as we continue to perfect this new system!

  • “Links” Nav Added to the Site - There is now a navigation item titled “links” which will help provide a quick way to access all of the latest links that are relevant to the church and events. If you see one missing, let us know! The hope is that this “link” navigation will help you to grab the right info quickly when you’re sending a text to someone in the group or a guest you talk to at church.

Application Questions

Fruitful in a Famine

The Path to True Happiness
A message from John 15:9-11

  • Read John 15:11. How has your perspective on joy/happiness changed since becoming a Christian? How have you experienced the “full” joy that only Jesus can offer?

  • Read John 15:9. How does thinking about the love that the Father has for the Son help your perspective as you consider Jesus’ love for you?

  • Read Ephesians 3:17-19. Why are we often more prone to focusing on our circumstances than the incredible love described in this passage? How can you focus on the love of Christ this week no matter what the circumstances? (There was a typo in here on the notesheets)

  • Read 1 John 5:3. What difference does it make when we view Christ’s commandments as gracious guidance from a loving Savior rather than arbitrary rules from an overly strict manager?

  • Read John 4:31-34. In what ways do you need to further align your will to God’s so that you can say what Jesus says here? Why will this mindset lead to greater joy?

A List of Men Who Haven't Signed Up

The Women's Summer Series Starts Soon!

Ignite Registration is live!

Important Info:

  • A List of Men Who Haven't Signed Up - Here is a list broken down by Life Group of the men who haven't signed up. I figured it was better to send it to you rather than post it on the front of Pathways on Sunday morning. I'm sure several men can't go for various reasons, and you already know who they are, but perhaps this is helpful to know as you reach out this weekend. I pray that you can get your whole group of guys to go up the mountain! It will be a set-apart time that deepens the bonds within each Life Group.

  • The Women's Summer Series Starts Soon! - Registration is open for the first event on June 12th; please share with the women in your Life Group. Carlynn Fabarez, a special guest teacher from the sending church, will be joining us for this first event. A light breakfast will be provided.

  • Ignite Registration is live! - Keegan will be giving some details this Sunday. Be sure to let your families know that there is an early bird price that they won't want to miss. Also, the registration is two steps, like the Men's Retreat, so please help anyone who is lost get through that process.

Application Questions:

Fruitful in a Famine

The Problem of Fruitlessness
A message from John 15:1-8

1. Read John 15:8. God’s goal for us is to live a fruitful life that glorifies him. What are some other goals in your life that you need to be careful do not compete with this main goal? Why is this goal of a fruitful, God-glorifying life more rewarding than any other goal?
2. Read James 1:2-4. What prevents you from thinking this way about trials in your own life? How can you adjust your thinking to embrace the inevitable trials that will come into your life this week?
3. Read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. How have you seen these realities prove true in your own life? How do these truths encourage you to have an attitude of dependence upon God this week?
4. Do your habits of Bible intake and prayer reflect a heart that is truly dependent on God? What other actions can you take this week to cultivate a dependence upon the Vine?
5. Read John 15:7. Do you see a connection between the words of Scripture and your prayer life? How can you integrate God’s Word more into your prayer life and let his words guide your words of prayer?

Application Questions:

NEW Series in John 15 - Fruitful in a Famine

The Problem of Fruitlessness
A message from John 15:1-8

Review the illustration Jesus uses in John 15:1-8. What about this imagery helps you understand more about the Christian life?

What is some of the fruit (changes in attitude and actions that reflect the life of Christ flowing through you) that you have seen in your own life since becoming a Christian? Give glory to God and spend some time thanking Jesus (the Vine) for the work that he has done in your life!

Read Matthew 7:21-23. What comes to your mind as you read about people who think they will be fine on judgment day but end up being cast out? What impact should these sobering verses have on your life and ministry?

Read Romans 3:20. While few people today think they can earn their righteousness by keeping the Old Testament law, what are some ways average people today may rely on themselves and basically come up with their own system of works righteousness?

Living in Godly Wisdom
James 3:13-18

Read James 3:13 and review the definition of wisdom that Pastor Charlie gave. As a result of this message, do you view godly wisdom any differently? If so, how will it change the way you think and live?

Read James 3:17-18. Share some of the greatest joys you've had in your life as a result of living in godly wisdom.

Read Romans 1:18-23. In what ways have you seen human wisdom result in disorder and vile practices? Take one of your examples and write down how it could have been approached differently with godly wisdom.

What is your relationship like with the Word of God? On a scale from 1-10, 10 being the best, how well do you know the Bible? What will you do next week to start to increase that number?

Men’s Event on 5/15

Awana Summer Dates

Youth Summer Dates

Important Info:

  • Men’s Event on 5/15 - We are planning another event before we head up to the Men's Retreat! Click here to get the registration and event info. Be sure to send this to your group to get all the men there! We will have breakfast, teaching, and a time for group discussion so please plan on being there to lead your men through some questions that we’ll send out ahead of time. This will serve as a GREAT opportunity to enlist some men to sign up for the retreat who are on the fence. We’ll be teaching from Philippians 2:1-11 with a message titled “Having One Mind” that will set a solid foundation that we’ll build upon up at Shiloh for the retreat!

  • Awana Summer Dates - Thursday night groups, be sure to check out the Awana Summer Dates here. Be sure to pass on this information to your group.

  • Youth Summer Dates - Tuesday night groups (or groups with Youth Students), be sure to check out the Youth Summer Dates here. Be sure to pass on the info that’s relevant to your group.

Application Questions:

*Each week we will put the worksheet application questions here so that you have everything in one place.

Read John 14:1, 27. As you consider your future, what tempts your heart to be troubled? Remember these verses contain commands, not suggestions! What will it look like for you to resolve not to fear this week?

Read 1 Timothy 3:14-15. In an age where so many “Christians” seem to be drifting away from this mission to support the truth, why is it so important for churches to remain planted on this biblical foundation? While much of that responsibility rests on the church leadership, how can you as a congregant promote a church culture that is centered on the timeless truth of Spirit-inspired Scripture instead of the fads and whims of the culture?

Read 2 Peter 1:19-21. What are some of the things that might most tempt you to be distracted from a focus on the truth that the Holy Spirit has revealed through the Scriptures? Remember, these may not all be inherently bad things.

Read Ephesians 1:11-12. What comfort can you derive from the reality that God is sovereignly orchestrating the events of history to accomplish his sovereign plan?

Read John 14:30-31. What are the ways you need to remain faithful to the commandments and mission that God has given us?
