Cards of Encouragement for South Valley

The message below will be going out to the entire church via email and the bulletin this weekend. Life Group Leaders, be sure to remind your group to take advantage of this opportunity to bless those going on the church plant!

January 11th will be a very special Sunday at Compass Treasure Valley. Not only will we be celebrating our 7th anniversary as a church with several baptisms, we will also be officially commissioning the team from Compass South Valley and sending them out from our congregation to prepare for their launch services on March 1st at Kuna High School. It will be an incredible opportunity to reflect on what God has done over the last seven years, as well as to step forward in faith into this new year by sending out a new church plant. One special way you can participate in this service is by bringing a note of encouragement for the Compass South Valley team, whether for the team as a whole or for specific members of the team. Let’s send them out with encouragement and faith as we anticipate what Jesus will do to build his church through this team.

7th Anniversary Reflection & Prayer

We will be celebrating our 7th anniversary for CBCTV on January 11, 2026, commissioning the South Valley Church Plant, and celebrating with baptisms! This is a great time to spend some time reflecting and praising God for what He has done over these past seven years. With your spouse, set some time aside this week to reflect, praise God, and pray for what’s next!

Deacon Retreat - Prepare With Prayer

It is almost here - Deacon Retreat Friday, January 16th and Saturday, January 17th! Come hungry for good food, fellowship, and God’s Word. Before the retreat, spend some time in prayer, specifically asking God what it will look like to go “Further Up, Further In” as a Deacon of this church. Use this time in prayer to prepare your heart for what’s next. During the retreat we’ll be talking about what it looks like to keep making disciples, not taking our eyes off of the mission after planting our first church.

Reminder - Volunteer Ministry Fair

We will be having a Volunteer Ministry Fair January 18th since there are several new areas in which to serve. With many Life Groups jumping back into the normal swing of things this coming week, please encourage your LifeGroup members to sign up to serve in a ministry if they are not already plugged in somewhere.

Sunday’s Sermon:

How to Think About Wealth

1 Timothy 6:17-19

  1. Read Proverbs 28:11. In what ways can riches lead toward temptations of pride? How
    can you fight against these?

  2. Read Psalm 62:8-10. Whether you feel like you are wealthy or not, how can you actively
not set your heart of riches for security but on God?

  3. Read Acts 14:17 & 2 Corinthians 8:9. How should the incredible generosity of God
transform the way you think about wealth and finances?

  4. Read Matthew 6:19-21. How can you live out these verses in 2026? (If married, be sure
to discuss this question with your spouse.)

  5. While planning and saving can reflect godly wisdom, how should a Christian do these
things in a way that is distinct from the world since our focus is not on this age but the
    age to come?
