Women’s Events: Help for Single Mother’s & Wives of First Responders

Do you have women in your life groups with unique circumstances that sometimes can’t attend women’s events, due to needing childcare? We have a team ready to help! Please direct these ladies to deb@compassbible.tv if you know of anyone in need. We especially have single moms in mind, as well as women with first responder husbands who may be on a shift. We will do our best to accommodate all requests on an event by event basis with on-site childcare.

Prayer In Life Groups

As a reminder from Deacons Retreat - the pastors would like each Life Group to begin each meeting with prayer, Boiler Room style. Start by spending some time praising God in worship in light of that week’s sermon, then spend time asking for God’s help in applying the sermon. Let’s be faithful in living out our fifth distinctive: We have a genuine reliance upon prayer!

Notes for On-Campus Life Groups

Some brief notes from Chris Hernandez:

  1. Please turn off the lights in the room before you leave.

  2. Put your small trash bag in one of the larger trash bins in the lobby.

  3. Vacuum if you made a mess - vacuums are in the closet immediately off the auditorium hallway.

  4. If you meet in the auditorium and make a circle for your group discussion, put the chairs back where they were.

  5. Check for lost and found, remind your groups to look for lost and found (every week we end up with kids jackets and water bottles) - currently stashed in the Corner Room off the front lobby.

Application Questions:

The Intersection of Pain & Providence
Where Victory Comes From
Genesis 39

APPLICATION QUESTIONS

  1. What are some verses that remind you of God’s promises, presence, and providence that can help you trust God even in the darkest of situations?

  2. What are some of the difficult situations in your life where you need to be faithful to do your best? How can the verses from question 1 help you in these situations?

  3. Read James 1:12-18. Why do we sometimes blame God for our problems and temptations? According to this passage, what is the correct view of God, and how will this view properly arm you for the battles of temptation?

  4. Read Proverbs 5:3-6. While the father admits the allure of the “forbidden woman”, he stresses to his son the devastating results of sexual sin. Why are these important things to remember in times of temptation?

  5. Read Psalm 32:3-6. What hope does this passage give to someone who knows he is guilty of sin? What instruction does it give him?
