Pray for Camp Compass!
Reminder: Deacon Meeting
Pray for Camp Compass!
We have 524 kids registered (and counting) for Camp Compass this coming week! Please be in prayer (and reminder your Life Group to be in prayer) for all the teachers, leaders, and student helpers this week. Also pray that the gospel will be clearly communicated and that all of these young souls will be made “wise for salvation” and some would come to a saving faith!
Reminder: Deacon Meeting
Mark your calendars! We will have our next Deacon meeting on August 23rd from 6-8pm. Dinner will be included. Please let Pastor Charlie know if you can’t make this meeting. It will be good to gather together as we all prepare for the kickoff of the Fall calendar just a few weeks later.
Sunday’s Sermon:
How Transformation Happens
1 Timothy 1:6-11
Review the four things we must guard against in point 2. Which of these things do you think you might be most prone to be tempted by? How can you specifically guard against that?
Read Colossians 3:20-23. What are some ways you may be tempted to focus on external regulations that can’t stop the indulgence of the flesh instead of focusing on your heart & your affections?
Read Luke 5:32 & Romans 5:6. What encouragement do you find in the good news that sinners and the ungodly are exactly the kind of people Christ died to save?
Read 2 Corinthians 3:18. How would you explain what is meant by “the glory of the Lord” to someone who was unfamiliar with that language? How should the regular rhythms of our Christian life (Bible reading, church, etc.) point us to the glory of God?
Think of an area you would like to grow in holiness. How is theology essential to growing there? In other words, what do you need to see about God that will lead to inside-out change?

"Build My Church" Discussion Questions
Upcoming Deacon Meeting
"Build My Church" Discussion Questions
Life Group Leaders: Included in this past week’s discussion were some questions about the “Build My Church” campaign. How did that discussion go? Were there any encouragements, highlights, or questions that came up that you feel are important to share with the pastors? If so, please Email Pastor Charlie with your comments.
Upcoming Deacon Meeting
Mark your calendars! We will have our next Deacon meeting on August 23rd from 6-8pm. Dinner will be included. Please let Pastor Charlie know if you can’t make this meeting. It will be good to gather together as we all prepare for the kickoff of the Fall calendar just a few weeks later.
Sunday’s Sermon:
Focused on the Goal
1 Timothy 1:1-5
Read Mark 3:33-34. How have you seen other believers function like family for you? What can you do to foster deep relationships like this in your own church?
Read Acts 20:28-30. Why is it important to be on guard against teachings that can lead you astray? What role should church leaders play in helping in these efforts?
Read 1 Timothy 1:4. What are some things you see Christians speculating about that may be a distraction from our gospel responsibilities? Now…be honest, what are some ways YOU might be tempted in these ways?
Read 1 Timothy 1:5. Why is it futile to pursue a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith in your own efforts/methods? Why can these things only be the result of a correct understanding of and response to the gospel?
Read Psalm 19:12-14. What will it look like for you approach God’s Word in the context of your local church with the humble attitude portrayed in this passage?

Reminder: “Build My Church” Commitment Cards
A Note on the Application Questions

Fellowship Friday Next Week
Reminder: “Build My Church” Commitment Cards
If you haven't turned in your commitment card yet, either physically or digitally, please drop yours off at the "hub" or complete the digital card. You can access the digital card here.
A Note on the Application Questions
If you review the application questions below, you will notice that some questions will give you the opportunity to discuss the "Build My Church" series that we just completed. Be sure to lead the group in a discussion that allows time for them to give feedback while also processing how God is convicting and encouraging them in light of what they will commit to pray, invest, and work in the years to come.
Pray for the Albania STM Team
Pray for the Albania team! There is a young man (17) who is leaning into the gospel with the team. They are praying desperately for his salvation. He comes from a Muslim background, so be praying for him to have the courage to follow Jesus.
Fellowship Friday Next Week
Ladies, be sure to remind your Life Group of the upcoming Fellowship Friday. It's at Orah Brandt Park in Nampa from 9-11am on Friday, June 13th.
Sunday’s Sermon:
Ambitiously Open-Handed
1 Corinthians 15:56-16:10
Briefly discuss and debrief the “Build My Church” series.
What were you challenged by?
How were you encouraged?
What are you excited about?
As Christians, we tend to lack ambition in our personal (and collective) ministry efforts and/or we lack open-handedness (we insist on our own way). Which one would you say you personally struggle with most? What steps can you take to grow in that area?
A.W. Tozer once said, “Every Christian should be looking to the Lord for something to do in the kingdom of God, and everyone ought to be asking God to honor him with a job too big for him.” What is something specific that you can do in the kingdom of God that is “too big” for you?
Read 1 Corinthians 15:56-58. Why should Christ’s victory over sin and death motivate and fuel our “work in the Lord”?
Work through each of the three “commitments” connected to the “Build My Church” initiative.
Pray: Read 1 Corinthians 15:56-58. How should Christ’s victory over sin and death motivate and fuel your prayers as you commit to the “work of the Lord?”
Invest: Read 1 Corinthians 16:1-4. What role does generosity currently have in your involvement at Compass Bible Church? How can you grow in generosity for the sake of supporting ministry efforts both individually and corporately?
Work: Read 1 Corinthians 16:5-11. What “wide door for effective work” has God opened for you in this season? How can you strategize for ongoing ministry opportunities?

Sunday’s Sermon:
“Build My Church”
Encouraged by the King’s Promise
Matthew 16:13-20
Read Hebrews 13:8. How does the truth of this verse help us to trust the promise of Jesus to build his church?
How should the perfection of our Savior help us to faithfully serve the church for our entire lifetime even though no church we attend will be perfect?
Read Hebrews 2:14-15. How can the fear of death hamper faithfulness to Christ and his mission? How should the removal of the fear of death free us to serve the King’s mission?
Read 1 Peter 5:8-11. How can we be rightfully concerned about our spiritual adversary (the devil) while also being confident and fearless because of Jesus and his promises?
What have you found most helpful from this “Build My Church” series that can help you faithfully serve the local church for the rest of your life?

Sunday’s Sermon:
“Build My Church”
The Call to Work
1 Peter 4:7-11
Read 1 Peter 4:7. In light of the fact that “the end of all things is at hand,” are you currently serving the cause of Christ in the world that could be honestly characterized as “faithful”? What needs to be changed or improved or maintained for you to be found faithful?
Read 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20. What would it look like for you to cherish investing into other people like Paul does? How can you keep the souls of people at the forefront of your mind no matter what you are doing to serve the church as it works to reach, teach, and train?
Read 1 Peter 4:8. How might you be most tempted to grow tired of loving others? What could be some of the practical consequences of giving into these temptations? Think of one particular person or situation that might seem difficult to you and ask for God’s help in continuing to love earnestly.
Find a “one another” command in the New Testament that you would like to grow more faithful in obeying. What will that obedience look like in your life?
Read 1 Peter 4:11. How are you currently working to build up the body of Christ? What will it look like for you to do that in the ways described by this verse?

Share the Gospel Patrons Event

You can register for the event here.
Sunday’s Sermon:
“Build My Church”
The Call to Invest
Philippians 4:14-20
Read 1 Timothy 6:17-19. How should an eternal perspective shape the way you think about generosity? How might you be tempted to “place your hope on the uncertainty of riches”?
Read 2 Corinthians 9:6. What could the principles of this verse look like in your life? For you, what would sowing sparingly versus sowing bountifully look like? What could reaping sparingly versus reaping bountifully look like?
Read Genesis 4:3-5 & Hebrews 11:4. What can you learn from Abel’s “acceptable sacrifice” and how does that apply to how you should practice generosity?
Read Philippians 4:19. How would your life look most different if you lived with perfect faith in what this verse says?
Spend extra time praying that the “Build My Church” initiative glorifies God through discipleship that impacts multiple generations.

“Build My Church”
The Call to Pray
John 14:12-14; 15:7-8, 16; 16:23-24
Read John 15:5 & 14:12-14. Think about the long-term impact of prayerlessness versus prayerfulness. What difference could faithful prayer make in your life, your family, your church, and your community?
Think of some of the more difficult circumstances in your life, what are some clear things you could ask the Father for in Jesus’ name based on his promises, his character, and his commands?
What would it look like for more of your prayers to be focused on eternal and spiritual things instead of just temporal or physical things?
Spend extra time praying for the “Build My Church” initiative. See the list below for some specific prayer requests and Scripture passages.

“Build My Church”
Committed to the King’s Mission
Matthew 28:16-20
Read Philippians 2:9-11. How should the honor and authority of Jesus motivate you to engage in the mission of making disciples?
Who are some people you are trying to reach with the gospel right now? If no names come to mind, how can you engage more evangelistically with unbelievers?
Read Ephesians 4:15-16. How do you need to rely on the help of others in order to grow in obedience to Christ? On the other hand, how you can help others to do the same?
How can planting a church be something that actually strengthens the sending church? What are some ways you think the process of planting a church might strengthen/challenge your own faith?
Spend some extra time praying for God to help our church plant Compass Bible Church South Valley in 2026.

Sunday’s Sermon:
“Build My Church”

Read Acts 20:28 & 1 Corinthians 8:11-12. How should thinking of the church as those “for whom Christ died” elevate the importance of the local church in your mind? How can that help you faithfully love and serve others within the church even when it is imperfect?
Read Ephesians 5:25-27. How could your love for the local church grow in how it follows the example of Christ’s love for the church?
What attitude do you display about the local church to others (especially to your kids/grandkids, if applicable)? What impact can your attitude have on others?
Read Acts 20:24. As you think about goals you may have for your life, do any of them involve the local church? What are some godly, biblical ways you aspire to serve the church in your life?

In what ways might you be most tempted to grasp for more? How could this end up being destructive to your life and legacy?

Women’s Retreat Reminder
THIS WEEK! The Build My Church Vision Nights
Before Multiplying
Women’s Retreat Reminder
“The Good Portion” early bird pricing ends end-of-day Sunday, April 6th, and will increase to $180 for retreat registration on Monday. Please encourage your groups to secure the lower pricing if they plan to attend women’s retreat! You can remind them that they can register without paying, and still lock in the discounted price. Register here.
Secondly, this summer we will continue our “Wisest of Women” series in a unique way! Each woman will receive an “ESV Illuminated Scripture Journal: Proverbs” for just $5. We will read the book of Proverbs three back to back times in June, July and August. As we read a single chapter per day, each month will have its own theme and prompts to follow, and we will be able to mark up, highlight, and reflect in our Scripture journals. We’d encourage life groups to hold off on book clubs over summer to instead encourage your ladies to be apart of mining out God’s Word together! You’re welcome to create group meet-ups for follow-up and discussion as you see fit. Sign-ups open April 5th, and scripture journals and an info card can be picked up after a Sunday service on June 1st!

Before Multiplying
Life Group Leaders - As a reminder, before you have conversations regarding multiplication with potential future leaders in your group, please reach out to Pastor Charlie first. A conversation about the couple in question is a critical first step as it provides us the opportunity to identify, strengths, areas for growth, and possible read flags before we get too far down the road.
Sunday’s Sermon:
The Intersection of Pain & Providence
Rooted in the Past; Flowering Toward the Future
Genesis 48
Read Romans 15:4. How can you be intentional to benefit from the encouragement and hope God is providing you through former things…like the examples we have seen from Genesis? What has been most encouraging to your faith in the study of this book?
Read Deuteronomy 8:2-5. According to this passage, how can difficult trials actually be examples of God’s faithfulness? What should we learn from this time?
Read Psalm 78:4-7. How are you seeking to teach the next generation to set their hope in God? What should that look like in your life?
If you are over age 50: Read Proverbs 4:18. What will it look like for your faith to shine brighter and brighter even as you get older?
If you are under age 50: Read Psalm 23:1. Is this statement really true in your heart? How can you be on track to reflect on God’s faithful shepherding on your deathbed like Jacob did?

Sunday’s Sermon:
A Nation Takes Shape
Colossians 1:15-17
Which of the “Jesus Is...” statements was most enlightening or encouraging for your own relationship with Jesus, and why?
Read Colossians 1:28. What are some reasons it is useful (perhaps even essential) to proclaim the person of Jesus in our evangelism and not only what he accomplished on the cross?
How can we say that Jesus was uncreated when Colossians 1:15 calls him “the firstborn” (see Col 1:18 and Ps. 89:27). What does that word really signify? Why problems occur if Jesus actually was a created
being?Read Hebrews 1:3. What comfort do you find in the sustaining power of Jesus, that he “upholds the universe”? If this applies to the universe, does it not also apply to everything in it, including your life? Where do you need to trust Jesus anew this week?

Kids Summer Series Dates
Albania STM Fundraiser
Kids Summer Series Dates
The dates are now set for our Summer Series for the Adventure Club kids. Tuesdays will be: June 10, July 1, July 8, July 22. Thursdays will be: June 12, July 3, July 10, July 24. Life Groups that are paired with Adventure Club, please plan accordingly. The “off days” will be a great time to plan fellowships throughout the Summer.
For all of you Life Group Leaders that don’t follow the Adventure Club schedule, please follow a pattern that mirrors this to some extent. Please don’t take off the whole Summer. Try to have regular meetings in June and July and then take more of a break in August. You’re more than welcome to continue to meet every week throughout June and July as well!
Albania STM Fundraiser
Hi Deacons,
The Plants and Pillars high school ministry is going on a mission trip to Albania this summer from June 2-11. While in country they will be evangelizing to Albanian high school students alongside Pastor Edi Demo and his church. To help cover the costs of the trip, they are hosting a fundraiser dinner on Friday, April 11th. There are a few needs for this dinner. 1) volunteers to prepare food for the dinner 2) personal invitations from life group leaders to their groups to come to the fundraiser dinner (we want as many people to come as possible), and 3) people willing to auction off items or services in a silent auction that will be held during the dinner—and we need your help!
Your generosity will play a vital role in making this mission trip possible.
If you would like to register for the dinner, you can go to this link here.
If you have any questions or would like to donate to the silent auction, please feel free to reach out to Josh Vaughn
Mr.joshua.vaughn@gmail.com

Thank you for your support and prayers!
Sunday’s Sermon:
The Intersection of Pain & Providence
A Nation Takes Shape
Genesis 46-47
Read Genesis 46:3-4. How should the character and promises of God mitigate fear in your life? What are some specific things you are tempted to fear, and what is a specific characteristic or attribute of God that should help quell that fear?
Read Hebrews 11:13-16. How can your life make it clear that you are living for “a better country” instead of merely a home in this world?
Read 1 Peter 2:9-10. What do these verses tell you about your purpose as a Christian? How will worldliness threaten that mission, and how should that motivate personal holiness?
Read 1 Peter 2:11-12. What are the greatest temptations in your life to simply blend in with the world around you? What will it look like to fight against these desires?

Sign Up For Door-to-Door Evangelism
Continue to Pray Before Life Group Every Week
Sign Up For Door-to-Door Evangelism
If you recall from the Deacon Retreat, each Life Group is asked to take one Saturday in 2025 to join the Door-to-Door ministry. Leaders shall pick the date for their Life Group. As your date approaches, Leaders are to gather 8 persons to join the door-to-door ministry on their day. Group leaders can be one of the 8. Married couples are fine. All those not going from your group that day will be asked to pray as their group members go out.
Persons should plan to join the 10am time, but may request the 2pm time. At 10am, we have ample evangelism team members to pair with your group members to lead and disciple them in door-to-door evangelism. (This is not always the case at 2pm.) Those who join us are not obligated to say anything if uncomfortable, but are welcome to watch, learn, and pray. We will provide a breif training video for first-timers to watch in preparation for joining us.
We will be proactive at sending reminder emails as your date approaches. Questions? Contact Pastor Stephen stephen@compassbible.tv
Continue to Pray Before Every Life Group
Remember, Deacons, continue to begin each meeting with prayer, Boiler Room style. Start by spending some time praising God in worship in light of that week’s sermon, then spend time asking for God’s help in applying the sermon. Let’s be faithful in living out our fifth distinctive: We have a genuine reliance upon prayer!
Sunday’s Sermon:
The Intersection of Pain & Providence
The Life-Changing Power of Providence
Genesis 45
What would it look like for you to “live like you believe in the promises of God” to a greater extent? Which of these points stood out to you the most?
Read 1 Peter 5:6-8. What things tend to make you most angry or anxious? How should trusting in the providence of God transform the way you view these things?
Read Proverbs 15:1. How should the providence of God help you avoid sinful conflict and give gentle answers?
Read Ephesians 4:28-29. Why is belief in the providence of God essential to living out the instruction of these verses? How can this belief help you live out these verses?
What should it look like for you to be “biblically optimistic” this week?

Quilting Ministry
Deacons, below is a message from the quilting ministry, which is part of the Care Ministry. Please read their message and share with anyone in your ministries or Life Groups who might be interested!
Has God blessed you with talents and abilities in sewing, crocheting or knitting? Would you like to serve in a ministry that brings tangible gifts to those in our congregation at CBCTV?
We would so love to have you join our team of Tabitha’s Hands! We meet the second and fourth Mondays at 9:30 in various homes to pray and work together on projects.
If you would like to come to a meeting or have questions please contact Donna Sellers at sellersd0@gmail.com for information.
Singles Event
Please pass along the info below to any singles in your Life Groups or ministries. Also, if you lead a Life Group with several singles, please feel free to attend the event to show your support.
If you’re a “post-college age” single, we invite you to join us for an event on March 29 from 7-9pm at the church building. We’ll enjoy dessert, fellowship, fun, worship, and preaching. We’ll have a number of events throughout the year and we’ll focus on the theme of the “one-anothers.” This is a great opportunity to connect and fellowship with other singles within our church, we hope to see you there!
Sunday’s Sermon:
The Intersection of Pain & Providence
Change Is Possible
Genesis 43-44
Do you ever struggle to think that you will never grow or change? What about the story of Judah (especially since Genesis 38) should be encouraging to us as an example of true change in someone’s life?
Read Genesis 43:14. In what situations in your life right now do you most need to be reminded of God’s might and mercy? How specifically should those attributes of God be a comfort to you?
Read Genesis 3:13 & 4:10-14. In what ways are you tempted to shift blame towards others or to deflect responsibility and complain about the consequences of your actions? What would it look like for you to more regularly own up to your sin?
Read Philippians 2:3-4. Where do you need to be most intentional and sacrificial in your relationships with others this week?
Read Colossians 1:21-23. What about what Christ has done gives you hope that people (including yourself) can be changed and that even difficult relationships can be reconciled?

The Outpost: Keeping the Church Small: Reviewing Chapter One
Build My Church Vision Meetings
The Outpost: Keeping the Church Small: Reviewing Chapter One
At the Deacon Retreat we gave everyone a copy of Keeping the Church Small. Over the course of the next several months, I (Pastor Charlie) will be going over each chapter. Be sure to reach the first chapter and then watch the video below! I hope that this rhythm will provide encouragement and ideas over the course of the next several month.
Build My Church Vision Meetings
As mentioned during the Deacon Retreat, we will have several vision meetings to share the exciting plans that are unfolding regarding the “Build My Church” campaign. We are scheduling four vision meetings that will specifically be for those in a Life Group. Each of these meetings will be held at the church in the Auditorium. For groups that have kids in Adventure Club, you will still drop your kids off but then head into the auditorium. For groups that meet on other nights or in homes, simply show up on your given date and head into the auditorium. This will be an exciting night for everyone in Life Groups to hear about the vision of the upcoming church planting and building campaign. Be sure to get this on your group’s radar and calendar! It’s important to note that the agenda for these nights doesn’t require that your Life Groups sit together. The vision nights below will run from 6:45pm to 8:15pm.

Sunday’s Sermon:
The Intersection of Pain & Providence
God’s Plan & Sin’s Pain
Genesis 42
In what ways might fear have an unhealthy influence in your decision-making process? How should what we are learning in the story of Joseph help put fear to rest?
Read 1 Timothy 1:5, 19; 3:9. Why should a good/clear conscience be a goal for every Christian? In what ways might you be tempted to ignore your conscience?
Read Hebrews 9:13-14. How do these verses give good news to those who may be struggling with guilt? How is this encouraging to you?
How have you personally seen temptations promise happiness but deliver grief? In what current situations do you need to be most reminded of this truth?
Read Psalm 16:11. Have you ever thought about your battle against temptation as a fight for true joy? Why is sin the enemy of real joy and how can this help you in your battle against temptation?

Pastor Ben’s Uganda Trip
Pray for Winter Weekend
Pastor Ben’s Uganda Trip
Please continue to pray for Pastor Ben as he travels back from Uganda. He already had a flight cancelled leaving Uganda, so pray that the rest of his travels back would be free from hiccups and that he would make it back here safely.
Pray for Winter Weekend
Due to weather issues, our annual Winter Weekend for our high school and middle school students has been moved to our church campus. Be praying for the students who will be here Friday night and all day Saturday, that the Lord would use this time together to give them a greater love for Christ - that they would be Captivated by Him, so that He would be their deepest joy, highest love, and greatest treasure.
Sunday’s Sermon:
Gentleness is Next to Godliness
Galatians 5:22-23
1. Describe someone in your life that you would consider “gentle.” What do they do or say that makes them a gentle person?
2. If someone asked you what biblical gentleness is and why it’s important, what would you say and why?
3. Out of all the fruit of the Spirit, how often do you feel gentleness is discussed? Is gentleness something you actively think about in your Christian life? Why or why not?
4. How does gentleness connect to the Gospel? In other words, what elements of the Gospel (Christ and his work) involve gentleness?
5. In what ways can you grow in gentleness? Be specific.

Pastor Ben’s Uganda Trip
Pray for Edi Demo’s Wife
Pastor Ben’s Uganda Trip
Please be praying for Pastor Ben as he travels to Uganda (he landed there safely this afternoon) to spend time helping Shannon Hurley and the team at Sufficiency of Scripture Ministries, our missionary partner. Pray for his health and that his teaching there would be fruitful.
Pray for Edi Demo’s Wife
Edi Demo, our missionary partner in Albania who will be preaching on Sunday, is here in the states for a checkup for his wife, Bona. She had a kidney transplant last year, so part of their trip will be for doctors to run tests to see how her body is handling the transplant. Pray for a clean bill of health.
