• Men Life Group Leaders: Leading at the Retreat - If you are a Life Group Leader and unable to attend the Men’s Retreat, let’s begin talking about someone within your group who will be able to lead discussions in your place. Please dentify a man in your group who will be at the retreat and can lead the discussions at the retreat. This might be an excellent opportunity for one of the men you have been intentionally pouring into in light of our most recent Deacons training meeting (think: inner circle). • Make Evangelistic Opportunities a Part of Life Groups - Life Group Leaders, please make “sharing evangelistic opportunities” a regular part of your time together as a Life Group. This could be as simple as asking the group, “Who had the opportunity to share the gospel with someone this week?” Let this be a practice that helps fuel our passion for evangelism and allows us to pray for those with whom we have been sharing the Gospel. This rhythm of sharing will also help us Deacons lead the charge by sharing our faith regularly as an example for the group.

• Heritage Move - The day has arrived - we have, by God’s Goodness and Grace towards our church, outgrown Pathways Middle School. But, by God’s Providence, we have been able to secure space with Heritage Middle School, just down the road. Heritage is located on the Northeast corner at the intersection of McMillan Road and Meridian Road. Our plan, Lord willing, is to move into Heritage on November 6th, the first Sunday of November. We are working to order all of the necessary equipment and materials for the setup at Heritage. What we need are more servants to help execute everything going on at Heritage, from increased Kids Ministry leaders to a more robust setup & teardown team. If anyone in your Life Group is looking for a place to serve, this is an excellent time for them to begin serving, whether it be with Kids Min, Facilities, Tech, or any of our other Weekend Service Teams. We will be hosting a ministry fair soon (late September/early October - keep your eyes peeled). And be praying that God would let us use this facility well to grow His Kingdom and for His Glory, just as He so graciously has here at Pathways. Let’s Go!

Pump the Basics of Evangelism Class - We are encouraging each Life Group to go out on one Saturday between now and the end of October (register here if you haven’t yet), but we also want to encourage people to attend the Basics of Evangelism. This class is designed for Christians who want to grow in their confidence to make disciples by the proclamation of God's Word. • Another Push for Family Weekend Kids Min Volunteers - We currently cannot offer enough Kids Min care for the number of people who have signed up to attend Family Weekend. To serve the actively-raising-children parents of CBCTV, we need to have volunteers for the Kids Min classrooms on Friday evening and Saturday morning. We cannot expand our offerings until we have confirmed volunteers for the various rooms.

  • If you have people in your ministry or Life Group who won’t be attending, can you send this form to them with a request to help ASAP? We want to ensure that we can provide childcare to everyone who needs it so that everyone who wants to attend Family Weekend can.

• Don’t Forget to Register for Life Group Evangelism - SIGN UP HERE - Only 3 of 19 Life Groups have registered to go door-to-door with our evangelism team one Saturday between now and October 29th. How it works: You register your Life Group to go out on a specific Saturday here and communicate when you’ll go out with the Evangelism Team (10am or 1pm). Then have your group show up at the church offices and go out as a group, with the evangelism team, into the surrounding neighborhoods to invite others to church and share the gospel. • How to Serve at Family Weekend - For life groups with members that are not in the actively-raising-children stage, we ask that you help serve with childcare for Friday night and Saturday morning. Please have anyone willing to serve in this capacity fill out this form. We want to ensure that we can provide childcare to everyone who needs it so that everyone who wants to attend Family Weekend can.

  • We think the easiest way to serve these parents with childcare is to serve with the Kids Min team at The Pursuit facility during the event. This will allow you to work with the age range that makes the most sense for your physical abilities/limitations. • Adventure Club Replacing Awana - This Fall, we will be changing the curriculum for our Thursday night program from Awana to Adventure Club! This change allows us to continue to teach/memorize the Word of God to our kids each week while improving the curriculum and support materials simultaneously. • Encourage Young Families to Serve - Often those with young families are hesitant to be at church for two services in order to serve in a ministry like Kids Min. Be sure to encourage them, reminding them that serving is both a command and a blessing and that God will provide for their young family! All of us who have trusted God in those seasons can speak firsthand to the blessings of "getting in the game" and not sitting out based on fear or over-thinking our capacity. Please continue to talk to anyone in your Life Groups or ministry/friend groups who aren’t currently serving (or have more capacity to serve) about considering Kids Ministry.

• Get Your Guys to the Men’s Event - Next Saturday the men will be gathering for the 2nd part of our series titled “Humility.” As a reminder, this series is designed to lead us up to the Men’s Retreat titled “Victory” that we’ll be attending in late October. 1. Read Judges 21:25. What parallels do you see between what this verse describes and our culture? What are some of the ways you may be tempted to resist the authority of God?

2. Read Psalm 58:10-11. How is it possible to joyfully anticipate God bringing justice upon the earth while still feeling compassion and humility towards the lost? How should both of these emotions influence your thinking this week?

3. Read 1 Peter 5:9-10. How does the reminder in Psalm 2 of Christ’s coming kingdom helps us to endure persecution? What can you do to be more mindful and prayerful about Christians who are enduring persecution?

4. Read Matthew 7:22-23. What gives you confidence that your faith is genuine and not the false faith described here? How do you know that Jesus is your King and not merely your ally?

5. Read Matthew 28:18-20. As you consider the warnings of Psalm 2 and the mission given here from King Jesus, what extra urgency do you feel to participating in the fulfillment of this Great Commission? • We're in Desperate Need of More Kids Min Volunteers - I will be getting up to share this request with the church this weekend, but I also wanted to share it with you more candidly. Please be sure to talk to anyone in your Life Groups or ministry/friend groups who isn't currently serving (or has more capacity to serve) about considering Kids Ministry. We had to turn kids away and shut classrooms down over the past several weeks due to a lack of necessary volunteers for various ages. Thanks for your help in getting the word out on this among the church!

1. Read 1 John 2:15-17. What are some of the ways you feel the pull toward the worldly things listed here? What are some of the influences in your life that you may need to cut out or minimize that pull you toward these things?

2. Read Psalm 1:2. Which of the three reasons (mentioned in the sermon) to delight in God’s law stood out to you the most? How will that increase your delight in the Word?

3. Read Joshua 1:8-9. Practically, how can the Scriptures be more on your mind, on your heart, in your mouth, and in your life this week?

4. Consider the comparison made in the sermon between David and Saul. How have you already seen the fruitful benefits of delighting in God’s law in your life? What confidence do these truths give you for the future?

• Pray for the National Equipped Conference - Pastors from all of the Compass Bible Churches have been meeting to find encouragement from one another over the past few days. If our time together as pastors indicates how this conference will go, we’re in for a treat! Here are a few things that you can be praying for leading up to the first session this evening:

  • For God’s Word to be preached correctly and powerfully

• Reminder - NO Saturday Service Next Week - With the National Equipped Conference next weekend, we will have NO Saturday night service. Instead, we will have 3 services on Sunday morning - 8am, 9:45am, and 11:30am.

• Invite Your Life Group to the Picnic - Tomorrow night after the Saturday night service we will be having a picnic. Invite your Life Group to join you at the 5pm service and then enjoy built-in fellowship at the picnic afterward. Be sure to bring a (camping) chair and a blanket!

• LG Leaders Invite Your Men to Breakfast Tomorrow - If you haven't personally invited the men in your LG to attend tomorrow's breakfast, will you do that today? Tomorrow's breakfast is the first part of a three-part series that will lead up to the Men's retreat in October, where we'll be discussing some vital topics concerning specific sins common to men.

• Men’s Whitewater Rafting Trip - We will be going whitewater rafting again this summer on 7/23. We will be meeting at Bear Valley Rafting by 10am to raft the Staircase section of the South Fork of the Payette River, enjoying Class III and IV rapids on our trip. The spots will be limited, so if you’re interested in going, go ahead and register here before we open it up to the men in the congregation.

Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:8

1. Read Ecclesiastes 2:24-25; 3:12-13; 5:18-20; 8:15; 9:7. How has the study of Ecclesiastes impacted your perspective on enjoying life and the things of this world in a godly way? As we prepare to conclude our study of this book, what are some specific resolutions you want to make when it comes to following this instruction to enjoy life?

2. Read 1 Timothy 4:1-5. How should the reality that God is the creator impact how we view and enjoy things in this world? How could you grow in receiving His gifts with thanksgiving as is recommended here?

3. Read Philippians 2:14-16. In addition to the considerations of this passage, how will an attitude of grumbling and complaining negatively affect your life? What lessons from Ecclesiastes can help you think differently?

4. If you are younger, read Ecclesiastes 11:9. What are some opportunities you have to enjoy your youth that may get harder as you grow older? How can you enjoy those to the glory of God? If you are older, read Ecclesiastes 11:8, what are the ways you can rejoice in all your many years and use your age as an asset in the fight for joy? If you’re not sure if you are young or old, read both verses and answer both questions!

5. Read Ecclesiastes 11:10 & Matthew 6:27. These verses help us see the futility of worry. What have you learned from Ecclesiastes that will help you worry less?
